Terms and Conditions

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon is organised in accordance

with the rules and regulations of the International Association

of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International

Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) as well as Athletics Kenya (AK).

Completion of this entry form evidences the participant’s agreement

to abide by the relevant rules and regulations of the IAAF/AIMS/AK

Terms and Conditions

  • Participants of 21km and 42 km must be over 18 years of age.
  • Application will only be processed after receipt of full payment of entry fee.
  • The organiser reserves the right to limit or refuse entries and to close entries before deadline without notice particularly when a specific quota is full.
  • The organiser reserves the right to contact and interview applicants by phone for additional information  required  for matters relating  to this event
  • There will be no fee refunded if the event is cancelled for whatever reason
  • All participants must ensure they are medically fit to participate in the race.
  • Entry and timing chips are not transferable
  • No result or medal will be given to runners who start in the wrong Start assigned to them by the organiser
  • A runner must retire from the race immediately if required to do so by any member of the official medical staff identified by a white arm band with a red cross.
  • No pets, or any form of wheel-run objects of transport e.g in-line skates, prams, push-chairs, shoes with rollers etc. are allowed on the course.
  • The organisers reserve the right to use any photographs, motion pictures, recording, or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.
  • The organisers will not be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete/incorrect entry details.
  • In accordance with IAAF requirements, all participants in the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon are subject to anti-doping control procedures.
  • The organiser reserves the right to refuse entry  to applicants who declare false information on their entry form, do not make the required payment, or who have been banned from competition under IAAF/AK jurisdiction or who is suspected of having taken banned substances (doping) meet entry  requirements as stated.
  • Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the organiser to ensure the participant’s safety, participants run at their own risk and the organisers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.
  • Total road closure will be lifted after ­five hours. Any Marathon participant who has not completed the marathon course after fi­ve hours will be picked by a trail vehicle.

 

Information Waiver Policy

I declare, confirm and agree as follows:

  • I/my ward have fully understood the risk and responsibility of participating in the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon or any event outlined in this application (collectively “the event”)
  •   I/my ward will be participating in the event entirely at my/his/her risk and responsibility.
  • I/my ward understand the risk of participating on a course with vehicular traffi­c, even if the course may be regulated /policed;
  •   I/my ward understand that I/my ward must be of, and must train to, an appropriate level of ­fitness to participate in such a physically demanding event;
  • I/my ward is ­fit to participate in the event and has obtained appropriate medical advice and clearance in this behalf;
  • I/my ward, for myself / ourselves and our legal representatives, waive all claims of whatsoever nature against any and all sponsors of the event, Nairobi City, all political entities, authorities and officials, all contractors and construction ­firms working on or near the course, all Standard Chartered Marathon Steering Committee persons, officials and volunteers and all other persons and entities associated with the event and the directors, employees, agents and representatives of all or any of the aforementioned including, without limitation, any claims that might result from me / my ward participating in the event and whether on account of illness, injury, death or otherwise;
  • If I/my ward is injured or taken ill or otherwise suffer/s any detriment whatsoever, I hereby irrevocably authorise the event organisers and officials to transport me / my ward to a medical facility and/or to administer emergency medical treatment and I/my ward waive all claims that might result from such transport and/or treatment or delay or defi­ciency therein. (I shall repay or reimburse to you my/my ward’s medical and emergency expenses and I/my ward hereby authorise you to incur the same). I shall provide to race officials such medical data relating to me/my ward as they may request. I agree that nothing herein shall oblige the event officials or organisers or any other person to incur any expenses or to provide any transport or treatment.
  • I’m physically fit and capable of participating in the Event and I have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical practioner.
  • I hereby declare that the date and information I have provided on the entry form is true and correct
  • By signing this form, I agree and confirm that I accept all terms and conditions, and waiver policy .
